About the Ukrainian Literature (High and Popular) On the Maidan and About the Maidan Project
All blog posts affiliated with the Ukrainian Literature (High and Popular) On the Maidan and About the Maidan project may be viewed in its post archive.
This project endeavours to collect performances (speeches, poetry, and music) on the Maidan (Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, etc) by Ukrainian poets and prose writers, as well as their statements and interviews in the Ukrainian and foreign press. It also endeavours to collects slogans and poetry published on posters of the various Maidany as well as the Internet.
The object is to analyze from a comparative perspective the positions of the authors, their understanding of the role of literature and the writer in such extreme situations. We will compare current discussions with those that transpired on the eve of, and immediately after the proclamation of independence. This will shed light on the manner in which the creative intelligentsia engaged with social / political phenomena then and now. We will not limit ourselves to Ukrainian-speaking writers.
