About Anastasiia Grynko

Dr. Anastasiia Grynko is assistant director for research at the Mohyla School of Journalism in Kyiv and post-doctoral fellow and lecturer at the Harriman Institute, Columbia University in 2013.

Former journalist and, later, public relations manager at the Open Society Institute in Ukraine, Anastasiia Grynko received her Ph.D.  in mass communications at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). Her research interests include contemporary media in Ukraine and post-soviet countries, journalism culture and ethics, media freedom and transparency, civil society and democracy, public relations, and strategic communications, qualitative and art-based research methodology. Dr. Grynko presented her research at the professional and academic conferences in Canada, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, and the U.S.A., including the National Communication Association Annual Conventions, Annual Conference of Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, Euprera Congress, Danyliw Research Seminar, Polish Communication Association conference, International symposium of doctoral studies, and appeared in the internationally recognized journals (Central European Journal of Communication, Public Relations Journal, and Quaderns del CAC).

She also continues to provide counseling working as Health and Media Initiative Consultant  (Open Society Foundations), media trainer and expert for European Commission Delegation`s projects and Internews Network.
